Sennheiser puts conferencing on the ceiling

Sennheiser is aiming to ‘free users from the limitations of table-mounted microphones’ with TeamConnect Ceiling, a fixed installation ceiling-mounted microphone array that uses beamforming technology to focus on whichever person in the room is speaking, regardless of their location in the room. The mic expands on the manufacturer’s TeamConnect system of fixed install conferencing solutions.
Staying with the TeamConnect theme, the manufacturer has also unveiled the wireless iteration which targets portable conferencing applications. The wireless audio conferencing solution comprises four units linked by wireless DECT connections. The solution allows users to connect their own smart device or computer wirelessly via Bluetooth or NFC pairing with compatible devices. Wired connections are also possible via USB or jack cable. In addition, the system supports multiple simultaneous audio channels and can be used to host a conference for up to 24 people.
Staying in the office, another conferencing solution from Sennheiser is the Speakerphone series. The SP 10 and SP 20 are lightweight, portable conferencing solutions that facilitate personal and small group conference calls via PC or mobile/tablet and have been certified for Skype for Business.
In other news, the German manufacturer has made upgrades to its SpeechLine Digital Wireless range. New features include multi-room functionality, which reportedly makes it possible to adjust the transmission power to address different scales of installations for simultaneous use of multiple systems on the license-free 1.9GHz frequency. Also, the range will be compatible with Dante to support audio-over-IP networks.
At the other end of the signal chain, Sennheiser has streamlined its HD 25 range of headphones. The range has been reduced from seven variants to three – the HD 25, HD 25 Light and HD 25 Plus. The HD 25 offers a frequency response of 16 to 22,000Hz, an impedance of 70-ohms and a maximum SPL of 120dB. The HD 25 Light is the entry-level model offering an impedance of 60-ohms, a maximum SPL of 114dB and a frequency response of 30 to 16,000Hz. Finally, the HD 25 Plus is identical in design to the HD 25 but offers extra accessories and two included cables.
