Sommer Cable pushes the right buttons
Published: PRODUCTS

A manufacturer of connection technology as well as A/V cables, Sommer Cable has designed the compact pushbutton modules for its Cardinal DVM series to enable intuitive operation for users without programming skills. The pushbutton modules have also been devised to integrate directly with devices, allowing for easier media control, particularly in situations whereby an operation is overly complicated or not possible.
Two models of the pushbutton modules are available in the forms of the passive and RS-232 versions. The passive model features a four-pole plug-in clamp connection, while the RS-232 version includes up to 16 modules on the same bus using standard Cat-5 or Cat-6 network cables that can be cascaded as well as a built-in mini media controller.
Sommer Cable states that users will be provided with guidance via white illumination and that the pushbutton modules can be seamlessly integrated into furniture. The pushbutton modules can be programmed using PC software via a USB connection, and with an AWG24 line, the maximum bus length is 25m.
