Described by the manufacturer as a ‘highly compact and versatile accessory that conveniently adds increased functionality in a multitude of sound reinforcement applications’, Stewart Audio has introduced its RVC-RS232 RS-232 infrared interface adapter.
It is an ‘easy-to-use’ accessory that remotely manages volume by interfacing with any power amplifier equipped with a Remote Volume Control (RVC) Euro block connector.
As well as providing increased functionality in sound reinforcement applications, the interface enables consultants, system designers, and integrators to add features that are routinely asked for in both existing and forthcoming designs.
The interface enables any amplifier with a 5-12VDC RVC connector to be remotely controlled using standard RS-232 commands. The commands available are: increase, decrease or mute volume, which include the ability to send discrete values. By adding the optionally available IR plug-in option, the system adds the convenience of infrared remote (IR) control.
Power is provided by the amplifier’s RVC connector, eliminating the need for an additional power source.
