STMi extends Scale Through Modularity concept to install
Published: PRODUCTS

Having successfully launched the STM touring system with the STMi M46 main, B112 bass and S118 sub modules in 2012, Nexo has unveiled an installation version in which the modules have had their rigging and hardware reconfigured and customised. As the STM gains penetration into a growing club of live production companies, the French manufacturer wishes to extend its appeal to live venues, where the need to dismantle and unrig the system on a nightly basis is not a requirement.
The STMi M46 is an injection-moulded high-power cabinet incorporating flat-membrane drivers ensuring full-range coverage over the entire 90-degrees horizontal dispersion. The HF range remains linear, using Ketone Polymer diaphragms that enhance tonal response and long throw.
Capable of producing a maximum SPL of 146dB, the LF/MF section comprises four 6.5-inch woofers, whilst the HF section of the 58kg M46 consists of four 1-inch HF compression drivers. The 85Hz-20kHz operating frequency range of the STMi M46 main cabinet promotes its solo use without the need of further bass cabinets for speech or light music events. If a low frequency extension is required, the 25-120Hz range of the STMi S118 sub and the 55-200Hz range of the STMi B112 bass are available.
The injection-moulded STMi B112 bass cabinet features a neodymium 3,000W 12-inch bass driver with 4-inch voice coil, sharing the same dimensions, weight and gravity centre as the STMi M46 main cabinet. The hybrid horn-loaded design reportedly maximises the efficiency of the driver, delivering 6dB more than a standard front-loaded driver in this frequency range.
The STMi S118 sub-bass cabinet comes with a neodymium 3,000W 18-inch driver and can be run in omni-directional or cardioid sub mode. Although the cabinet is double the height of the STMi M46 main, it shares the same width allowing it to be flown in an array or ground stacked in line.
