Studio Technologies newly announced Model 374 and 370 Intercom Beltpacks and Model 380 On-Air Beltpack aim to move away from traditional designs through the use of Audio-over-Ethernet and four-channel Dante intercom devices.
The Model 374 boasts four independent talk and listen channels, configurable button operating models, audio-to-phones routing, as well as Ethernet powering. Multiple Model 374 units can be used in party-line (PL) intercom applications over a standard IP network in conjunction with an external Dante-enable audio matrix, states Studio Technologies. Additionally, units can also be used ‘point-to-point’ or directly interfaced with ports on compatible matrix intercom systems.
An etherCon RJ-45 jack is used to interconnect with a PoE-enabled twisted-pair Ethernet port associated with a local-area network, while a broadcast, intercom-style stereo or monaural headset with a dynamic microphone connects to the Model 374 via a five-pin XLR connector. DIP switches and a software-based configuration section are used to establish the unit’s operating parameters.
Key features that can be configured by the user include preamplifier gain, independent talk button operation and individual-channel headphone signal routing, as well as integrated sidetone, remote microphone off and monitor-only headphone modes.
The Model 374 also features a low-noise, wide dynamic-range microphone preamplifier and associated dynamics controller. The output of the microphone preamp and compressor is routed to an analogue-to-digital conversion section that supports a sample rate of 48kHz with a bit depth of 24.
Meanwhile, the Model 370 and Model 380 provide intercom and on-air studio solutions for fixed and mobile broadcast facilities. The Model 370 reportedly builds on features required of traditional broadcast-2-channel party line intercom user devices and adds additional capabilities. These include use in PPL intercom applications, as well as to directly interface with ports on compatible matrix intercom systems. The product also features a ‘call’ function, compatible with traditional broadcast PL systems.
The Model 380 On-Air Beltpack is stated to offer a combination of audio resources, including both on-air and talent cue (IFB) capabilities, as well as integrating directly into both Dante and standard analogue audio environments.
