Swathe of new speakers from RCF
Published: PRODUCTS

Italian manufacturer RCF has introduced a host of new speaker options. First it has added to the Ayra range of active nearfield and personal monitors with the new ultra-compact Ayra Four. This follows the same design template as the Ayra Five (which is now also available in white), Ayra Six and Ayra Eight – but in a smaller package.
Available in black and white versions, the Ayra Four houses a 4-inch composite fibreglass woofer and the same 1-inch soft dome tweeter that appears in all models. Other characteristics include: precision directivity tweeter waveguide; fully-featured input board; reflection free front cabinet design and low distortion reflex port.
Another series to be extended is the NX modular series of rental and installed products which now features a new two-way active sound column. The NX L24-A contains four 6-inch drivers and a 2.5-inch voice coil compression driver, loaded on a waveguide, and contains a 700W two-way digital amplifier with Powercon connectors. Finished in Baltic birch plywood, and trapezoidal in design, the NX L24-A can be used as a flown single piece or in a coupled configuration; alternatively it can be pole-mounted on a floor stand or stack-mounted on a subwoofer.
The system is designed to be configured with either one or two stacked enclosures acting as a straight vertical column. As the fins become progressively longer towards the top of each enclosure, the beam of the horn is naturally tilted down with a 15-degrees angle to change the coverage pattern. EQ and correction settings are adjustable depending on whether a single or double NX L24-A configuration is being deployed.
Next is the new medium- to long-throw HL series which has been designed for outdoor use. The two-way passive HL2240, HL2260, HL2290 full range and HS2200 subwoofer have been added to the installed sound system catalogue. Within the product nomenclature, the 22 designates the 22.5-degrees horizontal coverage pattern of each loudspeaker, and the 40, 60 and 90 respectively the vertical angles.
The inspiration for the HL series came from two main projects – a recent installation in a premium stadium and followed by a large-scale vocal reinforcement in the Middle East. In each case, the customer requirement was for a constant curvature array with the specific key point of vocal reproduction.
All the speakers are bass reflex horn loaded, symmetrically designed, with the horn in the centre. The full-range speakers each house a 4-inch horn-loaded compression driver and two 12-inch horn-loaded subs. The 18-inch HS2200 subwoofer has been designed for LF extension. The connectors are IP67-rated and the enclosures, constructed in Baltic birch plywood, are finished in Polyurea, to make them weather resistant.
Also new is the extension to the D-Line portfolio. The active two-way HD 32-A, features a titanium compression driver (3-inch voice coil), 12-inch woofer, a 90- x 60-degrees control pattern and an SPL of 131dB. The system is powered by 1,400W amplification.
Finally, the new multi-purpose SUB 8004-AS is a single 18-inch subwoofer. The active bass reflex sub is powered with a purpose designed two-way digital Class-D amplifier, 1,250W RMS (2,500W peak). The transducer has been designed with a very long excursion down to 35Hz and there is a full set of input configurations such as crossover selection, cardioid configuration and delay system setting. All the characteristics, connections and controls are exactly the same as the SUB 8006-AS.
