Tannoy surface mount speakers matched to CMS range

Aiming to help system designers create ‘uniformly transparent and seamless’ coverage throughout a multi-zoned venue, Tannoy has sonically matched its latest AMS surface-mount loudspeaker range to its popular CMS 3.0 ceiling speaker series. The IP65-rated AMS range – boasting seven models from 5-inch to 8-inch assemblies – also comprises the manufacturer’s famous Dual Concentric (DC) technology, while UUMW ICT driver versions are also available for voice alarm applications.
While the enclosures are formed of high temperature moulded polymer with zinc-plated nickel grilles, inside the speakers benefit from the manufacturer’s Omnimagnet technology plus what it describes as a ‘unique patent-pending Torus Ogive Waveguide’ device. The combination reportedly provides ‘more consistent and controlled directivity’ along with improved high frequency response and coherence. All of the models in the range use a 16-ohm driver to aid their use in low-impedance systems. Alternatively, for constant voltage systems, Tannoy has specified 30W transformers featuring switching for taps at 30W, 15W and 7.5W with an additional 3.75W tap for traditional designs.
