Rane has expanded its HAL family of Remote Audio Device (RAD) digital signal processors with the introduction of the RAD26, which is intended to provide sufficient I/O and control to support one room in a HAL audio system.

Operable from a shielded category cable connection, the wall panel includes three logic inputs and three active-low outputs together with control capabilities. Inputs include one for a local audio line such as a mobile phone, laptop, MP3 or DVD, together with two microphone/line inputs. Outputs include the amplifier for the ceiling speakers, level control and source selection. Ideal for classroom, spa and meeting room environments, the RAD26 provides a room with a dual 4W amplifier, which can also allow a single channel option of 8W into 8-ohms. In addition, it also offers customisable colour display control and a dual universal audio I/O interface together with headphone output and line input jacks for local needs. With the RAD26 connected to the HAL system, each room can select between local or system sources, whilst permitting normal, priority or emergency paging.

On the DJ flip side, the WA-state manufacturer launched the model MP2014 DJ mixer at the recent NAMM 2016 exhibition. Operating on the same platform as the MP2015, the new worldwide four-channel rotary club standard has been designed for artists seeking the fluidity and smooth transitions provided by silky-smooth rotary controls. Like its four-channel bigger brother, the MP2014 blends a rotary control surface with digital signal processing and dual 16-channel USB sound cards. An assortment of analogue and digital I/O supports mixing vinyl, CDs and USB streaming audio in any combination. Other features include phono preamps, three-way swept filters and a three-band, steep 24dB/octave main mix isolator with adjustable crossover points.
