Trinnov scales new heights with Altitude 32

Trinnov Audio’s Altitude 32 audio preamp has extended its support for 3D audio formats by adding DTS:X to its existing support for Dolby Atmos and Auro-3D. The new DTS:X decoding capability is available to all owners of the Altitude 32 who purchased the 3D decoders option in a software update. No new hardware is required, says the manufacturer, due to the software-based audio option.
The Altitude 32 allows up to 32 discrete audio channels to be rendered (in contrast to the hard limit of 12 channels imposed by many DSPs), as well as spatial resolution using 3D microphones and the ability to measure each speaker’s location in three-dimensional space.
Meanwhile, the French manufacturer has also introduced a new multichannel amplifier to the luxury home/commercial theatre market named Amplitude 8. The unit boasts two large linear power supplies, each with their own toroidal transformer and dedicated power cord, and can deliver up to 500W RMS (at 2-Ohms) to each of its eight channels. Furthermore, any single channel associated with either power supply can reportedly deliver 1200W peak power to handle transients.
Importantly with its high channel count capability, the manufacturer is claiming the lowest distortion and noise specifications in the industry with the Amplitude 8, with what little leftover noise that remains stated to be frequency independent with a S/N ratio of -125dB.
The Amplitude 8 is compatible with the aforementioned Altitude 32 and boasts an input level that matches with the output level of the Altitude32 for optimum dynamic range. Eight channels of the Altitude 32 can be connected to each Amplitude 8 via a single TASCAM-standard D-Sub 25 cable, while a complete 32-channel system including the A/V preamp and all amplification is stated to require less than 20U of rack space while delivering almost 10,000W of power at 8Ω.
