Turbosound’s re-engineered Milan gets KT DSP

Music Group-owned British pro audio manufacturer Turbosound has given the world a first look at its new Milan series of powered speakers. One of the interesting additions to the series is digital signal processing from fellow Music Group manufacturer, Klark Teknik.
According to Turbosound, the new series has been ‘completely re-engineered from the ground up for 2013’. The company claims the re-engineered cabinets combine improved performance with convenience for musicians, DJs and A/V applications.
The new Milan series consists of five speakers including the new 12-inch two-way M12 and 15-inch bandpass M15B sub. Turbosound states the series has benefitted from ‘significantly uprated and highly efficient’ Class-D amplifiers. The 1,000W full range cabinets feature Klark Teknik DSP, while the two subwoofer models are powered by 1,400W dual channel amplifiers, reportedly allowing stereo systems to be built with only one subwoofer.
The M10, M12 and M15 two-way full range loudspeakers all feature two fully independent channels with electronically balanced mic and line inputs, two-band EQ and a Mix Out function to extend a Milan system with additional speakers. The switchable 100Hz low-pass filter ensures integration when teamed with subwoofers, or when used on the floor as wedge monitors.
The manufacturer states that dynamic EQ and intelligent limiting ensure that sound quality is optimised for speech or music at all levels. The cabinets also feature illuminated front logos that discretely alert the user of the onset of limiting.
