Venue IO16 option card released
Published: PRODUCTS
Avid has announced the IO16 option card for its Venue digital mixing system, claiming that it will ‘enhance live sound mixing and routing flexibility’.
Intended for use with the Venue SC48 console, the analogue and digital I/O expansion card is designed to ‘enhance workflow flexibility and mixing options’ by enabling customers to connect favoured outboard equipment – including automixers, EQs, dynamics, multi-effects processors and digital music players – directly to the SCS48 console. The extra possibilities thus created are being dubbed ideal for corporate event applications as well as live music events and houses of worship installations. Crucially, the card allows engineers to apply studio-standard plug-ins to the external sound sources.
Key features of the card include eight channel pairs of analogue inputs and outputs through ¼-inch female TRS connectors, eight channels of AES digital ins and outs through four XLR connectors, and direct connectivity between a Venue SC48 and third-party outboard devices through a single card. Seamless integration with the Venue software is also being flagged as an advantage – because the card fits into an available expansion slot it is automatically recognised by Venue 2.9 software.
