Wealth of new loudspeakers from SoundTube

SoundTube Entertainment has debuted three new ranges of speakers including IP-addressable models, all-weather outdoor surface mount enclosures and pendant speakers.
Leading the pack is the CobraNet-equipped ST-NET IP-addressable powered speaker system, which includes a rack mountable 16-port switch and power supply delivering 40W PoE (Power over Ethernet), plus in-ceiling and surface-mount PoE-powered speakers (with more models to follow).
Each speaker on the system is continuously monitored and any failure will immediately trigger an alarm (either visible or audible). The system can also be configured to send an automatic email alert to the installer. Multiple switches can be linked together for larger designs via two gigabit ports. A WAN port is also on-board for linking to external networks.
For outdoor applications, meanwhile, the manufacturer has created the SMi-WX range of all-weather surface mount enclosures, including three modes.
Firstly, the SM890i-WX has an 8-inch treated-fibre driver and an offset 1.42-inch compression horn plus patented BroadBeamHP waveguide technology and a tool-free Stealth bracket. It can be tapped for 25v, 70.7v and 100v operation plus transformer bypass. Next, the SM590i-II-WX is a 5.25-inch coaxial surface-mount speaker with a polypropylene woofer and a 1-inch horn-loaded convex titanium dome tweeter mounted to a proprietary cast-aluminium baffle and heat sink. BroadBeamHP technology is once again offered alongside the same tapping options, while a special mounting bracket with vertical and horizontal pivoting allows flexibility in installation. Finally, the 5.25-inch, coaxial SM500i-II-WX boasts a polypropylene woofer and a 1-inch convex titanium tweeter with FerroFluid cooling, the same mounting bracket and six tapping options.
All three models have been designed to withstand wet weather conditions even under direct exposure, with non-corrosive materials (stainless steel or aluminium) for all exposed metal components. The speakers’ grilles also include the IP44-rated WX Weather Guard, a dual layer hydrophobic material inside the speaker grille designed to keep water away from the drivers and internal electronics.
Last but by no means least in the new launches are the manufacturer’s RS-EZ pendant speakers with 3-inch, 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch models.
The RS42-EZ, RS62-EZ, RS82-EZ and the long-throw HP82-EZ speakers incorporate SoundTube’s BroadBeam Ring technology, increasing high-frequency dispersion for full-fidelity sound even well off-axis. Other features include ceramic input terminals, built-in thermal fuses, hanging and safety cables, transformer and tap switches, and cover plates with a weather resistant rubber plug. The speakers can be mounted via a hanging cable or direct conduit and are shipped in eco-friendly, recyclable packaging.
Meanwhile, the RS31-EZ is described as bringing ‘the audio quality of SoundTube’s 3-inch micro-module speakers to a pendant style’. It is available with and without a transformer, and includes a combination audio/hanging cable with a 25:1 safety factor and mounting plate for mounting directly to a standard ceiling junction box.
