WORLD: Ecler celebrated its 50th anniversary recently with a gathering at the Marble Hall in the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam. Founded by a group of electronics and high-fidelity enthusiasts, the Spanish manufacturer began its life developing cartridges and needles for turntables and enjoyed much success in the DJ market before later branching out into amplifiers and ultimately, A/V integration. Now 50 years old, the company fittingly exports its products to a total of 50 countries.
At the end of 2014, the Barcelona-based manufacturer was acquired by Fordahl Capital, which subsequently resulted in a 25 per cent growth in turnover last year. It has also recently announced an ambitious new plan that aims to bring 99 new products to the market over the next two years, the first of which (a massive 43) were unveiled at Amsterdam earlier in the month. Ecler also recently announced plans to reinforce its ranks with more R&D engineers, sales and marketing staff with the goal of becoming the leading European brand for commercial audio solutions.
The company’s equipment has also been used for several prestigious projects in recent years, including celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party in Beijing and bringing audio to all meeting rooms, dining halls and public areas of the recently opened Sheraton Hotel in Istanbul. In the corporate and education sectors, the Council of Europe in Brussels and the Universities of Paris Descartes in Rome and Marie Curie in Poland also serve as first-class references.
