Lord Puttnam to deliver keynote address at IBC

WORLD: Lord David Puttnam of Queensgate, CBE will be delivering a keynote address at the IBC Conference in Amsterdam on Sunday 11th September. The title of the address will be Transformation in the Digital Era: Leadership, strategy and creativity in media and entertainment.
The Oscar-winning producer and politician will discuss topics including the impact of technology on creativity, the growth of platforms such as Facebook and YouTube, and the effects of political events on the creative industry, with the UK’s recent EU Referendum given as an example. The chair of Atticus Education and producer of well-known films such as Chariots of Fire, Midnight Express, and Bugsy Malone, Lord Puttnam served as vice president and chair of trustees at the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) from 1994 to 2004, following which he received a BAFTA Fellowship award in 2006.
Following his retirement from film production, Lord Puttnam focused upon work in public policy with regards to education, the environment and the creative and communications sectors. In recent years, he has held positions as deputy chairman of UK-broadcaster Channel 4, chair of The Sage Gateshead, founding chair of the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) as well as chair of both the National Film and Television School and the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television.
