Turbosound system Arises and Shines

USA: For the second consecutive year, the Tabernacle of Glory church hosted the Arise and Shine Miracle Conference. The four-day programme celebrates the end of 40 days of fasting completed by the church and occupied the 8,000-seat BankUnited Center at the University of Miami. The event reportedly attracted attendees from across the US, as well as international visitors from countries including Canada, France and the Dominican Republic.
The four days comprised a combination of preaching, presentations and musical performances. Tasked with selecting a sound system to ensure complete coverage throughout the arena were Tabernacle of Glory’s music production director, Rodlin Pierre, and president at professional A/V services company Sound Media, Lennox Foster.
‘Because we’re a Caribbean church we like a lot of thump, we like a lot of boom, and with that we like to enjoy clear sound, good clarity,’ explains Mr Pierre. ‘In April we used the Turbosound Flashline line array and we had an incredible experience with it – the tone, quality and clarity of the cabinets – so we decided to go ahead and try it for this big event.’
Providing the ‘thump and boom’ at the event were 98 Turbosound loudspeakers, comprising units from the Flashline, Flex Array, Aspect and NuQ series. At FOH, 12 arrays of TFS-900H with under hangs of three TFA-600HW were flown per side. Next to these and providing the low frequencies were six TFA-600L subwoofers on each side and on the lip of the stage, eight TFS-550H served as front-fills. Meanwhile, eight TFA-600H were configured as out hangs to reinforce the remaining audience areas that were lacking complete coverage.
On the stage, 12 TFM-560 touring speakers were deployed as floor monitors, while four NuQ portable PA loudspeakers were implemented as monitors for those performing. Meanwhile, four TA-500 units served as side-fill.
‘The coverage is very consistent with the software used to deploy the system so it’s easy to manage in terms of rigging,’ concludes Mr Foster. ‘Overall, the transient response is good and punchy, which is unusual for large line array systems.’
